It doesn't in the end, just as Quatto said.
What matters in your post is that you offer them sustenance, and that they accept a good meal.
But you offered it to them, and provided it. And that is what most matters.quatto Thanks this. -

That college grad wrote a book about his adventure its title "scratch beginnings". He had 25 dollars in his pocket and within a year he purchased an operable auto, rented an apartment, and had 2500 in the bank. Only in america. You can still get ahead with hard work and discipline. I havent read the book yet. I heard an interview with the author.

If the government would put restrictions on food stamps where recipient could only purchase healthy food like sack of potatoes, bag of rice, tuna, pb and j, etc. Instead of 7-11 pizza and soda and steak etc you would get rid of freeloaders and there would be more for the people who really need help. I was behind someone at grocery checkout who had steaks and 12 pack soda and paid with food stamps. People are using food stamps to keep up a lifestyle instead of nourishment when they are in time of need. In my opinion thats stealing from taxpayers and those that really need help.

And if he was such a man he would have fight his battle of addictions and move on with his life, no doubt that living with a wheelchair is a terrible handicap to put up with but this is not a reason to waste your life away.Big Don, driverdriver and cnsper Thank this. -
Your Lincoln quote implies that those who ask for money are just lazy leeches on society unwilling to work. However, it's a known fact that many are mentally ill and cannot hold down a job. Many are ex-felons who aren't offered work... or veterans with PTSD. Many are addicted to drugs and alcohol and cannot break free. Many are mothers that had abusive relationships and needed to leave. The causes of homelessness are as endless as human sorrows. They are not all just lazy.
As for me, I don't give to everyone with a cardboard sign or card table. That would lack balance and relativity. I chose based upon intuition and observation. I always give to schizophrenics, veterans, and women with children. Therefore, you and I are alike in that we give when we sense a genuine need.
However, my original point was that too many write off anyone asking for money with a wave of their hand by assuming beggars are just plain lazy. To me, this is simply a justification for hoarding and stinginess. Oh, they have all sorts of high sounding rationalizations for withholding their money, but they are just that---rationalizations. And they miss the fact that giving is an act of self-enrichment just as much as an act of charity. To give is, at the same time, to receive. They miss that they could grow their souls by giving.OOwannaBE Thanks this. -
