I have a lot of truckers in my family so I've been around it all my life.

I have a uncle and cousin who drive for Titan and a uncle who drives a log truck. (A good friend of mine drives for Werner).

I've gotta long while before I can get into driving but I'm trying to figure out what I want to do now since I'm about to graduate.

I love the lifestyle of a trucker from where I see it.Uncle is always texting us pictures from the road and calling to tell us what's up(stories from Memphis truck stops are hilarious)

Do you think the truckin industry will be goin strong again in 3-5 years?

I have no health problems BUT my vision is nowhere near 20/20 but I'm defiantly not blind:biggrin_2556:....I wear contacts.

It drives me crazy to think about being trapped in a office lookin at the same walls every single day dealing with the same people:biggrin_25526:

    Tell me whatcha think.

It has it's ups and downs but if you're gonna drive the earlier you start the better no matter what segment of the industry you end up in. You may be able to land a quality job in your early twenties as I did if you start at 21..

    Thanks!

Can I drive a log truck here locally in Tennessee before I turn 21?

What about delivery trucks for lumber yards?

I know that I have to be 21 to drive a rig period but I'm lookin for work similar now.

you need to be 21 to cross state lines. stay in tn you can start at 18. but you wont find anyone to insure you till your 25 usually. although if you know someone in the business and they are willing to pay the higher premiums, your good to go. supposedly some companies will hire you younger then that, maybe the bigger ones, i dunno. everywhere ive ever been you had to be 25

    Awesome!

My uncle owns a logging company so he could probably give me a start.

I've also got a family friend who owns a cotton gin which one of my step-uncles drives for so I could talk with them to.

My friend started driving with Covenant Trans. when he was 21....He's 22 now and driving for Werner.

    Thanks alot:biggrin_25514:

Yep.. I got my class B in Pennsylvania at 18 and Got my A at 21 - guess I could have got my A younger to run intra-state but had no reason to where I worked at the time. Started driving OTR right away for about a year and half before getting hired by Con-way.. Been here ever since..
