Yep.
Had an independently wealthy student myself back then. Fithy, filthy rich. Only in it because he loves it. Retired from 2 previous careers.
Been telling me every year for last 6yrs, this is last year. LOL
Still driving as employee for that mega, top of his board. Making #### good coin & just loving life.
Have step brother that's a USMC Lieutenant Colonel.
Heya, been gone from here for last 5yrs. Been bustin' ### to pay off those last 2 trucks & trailer.
You were one of those big helps back in beginning with all your posts, whether you knew it or not. Glad to see you still giving 'em all hell.

Any student who paid the classes with CASH? So I can't pay with a credit card? You mean I have to save up $3500-$4500 in cold hard cash bills? lol

Another suggestion: because (in part) of all the technical brouhaha with tractors and looming emissions requirements -- I would respectfully put forth that you (if possible) should start your CDL careers in another state besides California.
Nevada would be a MUCH BETTER choice; @Chinatown can tell ya all about it.

Robertson's and CR England have their own school or you can attend a private school out of your pocket as long as it's approved by the companies.
Covenant doesn't have an in-house cdl school, but will reimburse you for attending a private school out of your own pocket.austinmike Thanks this. -

Concerning OP,
Are some of the megas still waving the time obligation if you pay for your own (acceptable) school prior? I now some did.
Reason I ask is I had a student that was able to get a local NYC gig at about 6mos. He had year obligation & believe he just paid half prorated, but do not think all will do that.
Local gig wound up a nightmare (company & equipment), but he got in with USPS there right after that.
Young family guy set for life at 6mos.Last edited: Nov 16, 2023

1st, let me say, welcome aboard, you came to the right place. Many may wonder, how could someone leave the richest industry in America( the world), when in fact, it can be pure Hell. I'm reminded of a person who got their dream job as a NASCAR truck driver. They said it was like 15% driving, 85% grunt work. The same goes for the movie industry. Driving comprises a small amount of the work, and many hope some producer will see them, and maybe have a perfect face for a show. I kid you not, that's how Hollywood works. I have a relative in the biz, on a visit to L.A. saw at a prop house, the "FOX' truck driver, THAT was a cushy job. He backed in, sat in the truck, and 2 goons loaded the truck with items, for some crappy show. Union is HUGE in L.A.
For you? If you really want to truck, I agree, get out of Cal. Colorado has a steady influx of people getting out of Cal. and plenty of jobs. While a team sounds promising, remember, it's 24/7 and many relationships can't survive that, regardless of what they say now. Choose carefully. It may be completely different than what you may be used to. Keep us posted, eh? Good luck.DexterSaintJock Thanks this.
