my understanding is the highest paying local trucking jobs are hauling gasoline, diesel, or other gases.

although there are exceptions most of your local tanker jobs will probably want a year of experience. You can get that year with many of the Megas, driving tankers, like Schneider.

@Chinatown probably has a lead to companies in your area that haul tankers. Call them and touch base with who does their hiring and ask what their requirements are for new truck driver hires. The local company my wife and I wanted to work for required us to either have experience or attend the local community college truck driving school and would not except new graduates of the 180 Academy. Do this research before you decide where do you attend school and you might be able to get a job right out of CDL school where you want to work.

do most of you wear wireless headsets for your personal phone calls while driving? For those of you who do not wear wireless earbuds or headsets, do you have one wired earbud in your ear and are you allowed to put the phone on your dash or window like normal cars or is that not allowed? Does it depend on the company?

Also I noticed that in California you can only drive 55 miles an hour if you're in a truck right? So how come I see trucks going about 65 to 70 miles an hour on the regular? Do they do that and have a radar for cops? Lol

Those earbud guys cheat. Yeah probably just use one though. I've never had those.

I mount my phone on my dashboard and play music through the bluetubes on my truck.

I don't use a headset or earbuds. If someone calls, I'll call them back later.

When I ran out there, I would stay with the traffic flow and never had a problem. Out of town I kept my speed at about 62mph or less.
And some do run radar detectors but they are illegal in a commercial vehicle.

Only ticket in over 30yrs was in Santa Maria for 5mph over 55. That SOB..... LOL

Hate headsets, look like aliens invading. Ear buds uncomfortable. Have used LG hang on neck retractable buds for years. Instant in, right back to neck.
