The film industry makes good, how about soap opera's, fill in's, stunts or a major star? The possibilities are there. but focus on your education. unless you were born with a silver spoon and the wisdom to keep it.

This ^^ shoot for all the things your dreaming about and put trucking last. You can become a truck driver at any age.Lucidd Thanks this. -
You can do college/trucking/military at the same time. Join the Army/Air Force Guard/Reserves while in high school, then basic training once you graduate, start college when you graduate basic. Find a local trucking co / farmer / construction that will help you get your cdl @18 yro and then hire you for INTRAstate (until u r 21) driving on nights/weekends/summers etc. I did something very similar to this.
With that said, go to school for something that you are passionate about. Also, what are you doing now for a part time job?Lucidd Thanks this. -
He should become a divorce attorney for the big bucks.

Kid screw driving, it is the last place you want to put your talent.
This is a dangerous business, it is more dangerous than being a cop, your life is in the hands of others and many times they are sub-standard humans who don't give a crap about anything but themselves.
I learned hard lessons by not listening to people, got into this business and then talked out of it back in the age when it was actually hard work but easy to deal with. I went on to school, got a really good education and worked in some fantastic jobs, travelled all over the world, met some great people BUT if I stuck to trucking, I would have missed out on all of that. I ended up back here to pay the bills but decided that I need to do more than that and built a business out of this.
My kids will never do this work, they may manage the fleet I own but never will they go on the road - they are too smart to waste it on that. They too have travelled somewhat in their lives, I saw that they didn't get stuck in the typical summer camp/mini weekend vacation crap, but took them to Europe and other places. My eldest already got his plane down. He decided to go into the Air Force in a couple years (he said it will always be there) then to school after he leaves the Air force, he wants to be a pilot. But before any of that, he wants to learn about Aircraft so right now is working on getting his A&P through apprenticeship before he enlists. My eldest daughter may follow in my footsteps, getting more than just one degree in different things but she says she has time to experience things first hand before going to school - as she puts it she doesn't want to deal with a bunch of immature idiots in college and have to build her tolerance up for them.
My advice, is simple. learn how to figure out what you want.rabbiporkchop and Lucidd Thank this. -

Thanks everyone, I'll pursue my career of being a surgeon. First i have to get into college, study really hard, pass the test to get into a medical school, study hard in medical school and attempt to come out on top, pass the medical licensing board exam, do residency in a hospital for a few years (By this point I'd start earning paychecks since i'd basically be an assistant doctor whilst learning as i go along. But the paychecks wont be much. About the amount of a standard job ) than after residency I'd be officially a Neurosurgeon. It takes around 14 years, from freshman year of college, to the point where your considered a neurosurgeon. But after those 14 years are up, I'd start out at a starting salary of around $300k a year, and that would raise as time goes on. Since I'd be making so much after I'm done with all my schooling, I have no doubt in mind that I'd be able to pay whatever I owe back to the government. My doubts do however come in, when thinking about how i'd come up with enough money to buy all of my books, put me through college, and pay for medical school and stuff. Is borrowing money from the government for everything dealing with my schooling realistic? Surely I'd be working by the time I get to college as well, But I'd only be able to work part time since I'd need to do college full time. Surely I do not need to be rich from the start, in order to afford medical school lol. By the time I'm in my thirties i want to be making good money, invest and trade stocks, as well as have kids and what not since I'd be 100% sure I'd be able to provide for them. Now i won't be a multimillionaire (unless my stocks and investments pull through) but if i stay with Neurosurgery (that's what type of surgeon I'll be. A brain surgeon) I would be making $800k upwards into the 7 figures depending on how good i am at my job as well. I just want to get everything planned out so I know that i could pursue my goal as a Neurosurgeon 100%. Like i said, my only limiting factor is money.
Also travel. I wanted to be able to travel right? I'm sure I'd have enough money to go anywhere i want in the world at a moments notice. And since neurosurgery is such a high demand job,. I shouldn't have any problem landing a job at a hospital if i lets say, decided to move to Florida from Texas? I mean, who wouldn't need another neurosurgeon lol?
I was also thinking about starting my own business after being considered a Neurosurgeon and finishing all my schooling. Get my own Hospitals and what not. But i don't think my salary would cover it if i wanted to start up huge hospitals around the world. Hopefully i'd be making money from my investments and also be able to borrow money from the government. This seems like a realistic goal in my book.Last edited: Mar 11, 2016
