Hello all. I have been a fan of trucking for a long time. I love the idea of seeing the country and getting paid to do it. You guys (and gals) have a great job and get stuff where it needs to go. Awesome.
I have contacted drivers solutions and am waiting to hear back next week regarding the pre-hire letter.
I have unfortunately made some bad decisions in my life and at this point in time i have been un employed for about a year. Prior to that i was with the same company for 13 years in a differentindustry.
I have a clean driving record and background check. Really....
My question is about my unemployment. Is this going to be a problem in getting hired on with an OVR trucking company?
Thanks and hope to see you out on the road soon.
I want to be a trucker

well my advice is to do your research before you jump into a driving job. Because you will need to stay working for them about one year... your job work history will count to a trucking company after you have time in the drivers seat. What you did before driving will have very little to do with what a trucking company thinks of you. Also they need drivers very bad. and that reason is that most trucking companys trash their drivers. you are not important to them.. I know of an owner of a trucking company that told a dispatcher that it was easer to replace him then it was for him to replace a good driver. I use to work for him, then he sold the company and it went to the dogs very fast.

However, if you can't be talked out of it, you were self employed and couldn't make a living at it, not unemployed. -
Good Luck and Welcome to the forum
