Speed governors on brand new trucks are for fuel saving. I've been on roads since I was little kid. Going dirt road in the mountains with auto tranny will be a disaster. You will get stuck and wait for a dozer to pull u up the mountain.

My friend had Freightliner Cascadia leased from Ryder. He works at Hirschbach and he begged them that can drive the Cascadia. Sadly, they took his favorite Cascadia and replaced it with 2014 prostar. He hates it because not much space and power compare to Cascadia.

I agree Russ. I was being silly. Sure doesn't seem like they build for real men truckers anymore. These engines specifically built for certain RPM's . Makes sense but I surely don't feel manly in Arizona at 62 MPH. LOL

75% of trucking joy is slamming gears. I love the shifting

It's funny when people think 10 13 18 speed they're like screw that I'm not shifting all those gears. Mainly because they're first thought is a car.even tho it is completely different and once you're brain is programmed. It becomes like breathing.

who cares what kind of transmission he uses?

If I had to choose, I'd take someone who can get out of a jam, steer around any corner, knows at least basic trick maintenance, but drives automatic over most of you any day. Because shifting greats doesn't make you better at your job, I'd want someone who can do all the stuff that actually matters. shifting doesn't make you money, getting where you're going does.

seriously, a lot of you older drivers, all you do is whine. if you hate the new generation of drivers and the industry so much just quit.

Seriously, you treat him like that just because he wants to drive automatic? Cuz holding the pedal down in 10th gear is so much harder, right?
