Sorry,, if you can't "cut it" driving stick and prefer a truck to control you, instead of you full controlling it, then what else do you want compromised just to claim you can drive a "big truck". Sure, just because there's autos out there doesn't mean those drivers never cut their teeth on 10, 13, or 15 speed manuals.

Drac1985, bowhunter3714 and pattyj Thank this.

I prefer an Automatic, I will and have drive all 10's and 13's I have to like the auto because I don't like to have to shift a billion times ib traffic, I treat them the same as a stick, I hold a gear on a decline, I will up shift it manually if I need to. I hope this helps.

I love auto! Didn't drive one until fairly recently when the tanker company tried a couple on loan from Freightliner and Volvo. I drove the Volvo with automatic transmission and Volvo engine and loved it. Ran 48 states with it. They bought the Volvos. The Freightliner kept shutting down from EGR issues so they sent it back. Maybe I've turned into a wuss!

Ask yourself what the employer is thinking, when a newbie brings conditions to an interview?

Considering that the few companies exclusively utilizing full autos are mostly the entry level mega carriers, I'd bet my last dollar the vast majority of those drivers have never seen, let alone driven a 15.
