OFF topic a bit,.. I apologize in advance if I offend anyone.

Back in my youth, you could not be both,.. and there was no GM vs Ford,.. it was Olds VS Chevy VS Pontiac Vs Ford Vs Buick Vs Mercury, etc. Each had their own motors and each was as different as apples and oranges.
I grew up a hard core Chevy guy. To cut down on Chevy within striking distance of me got me into a lot of trouble. LOL
I had a 1984 Z28 with what I thought at the time was a bad to the bone 190hp 305. I swapped the cam, intake, carb and put on headers. Was good for mid 13's in the 1/4. Along came the 5.0 Mustangs. Around 86 - 87 or so they were so easily modified and moved out so good,.. I got tired of getting whooped. So when Chevy started putting the 350 in the IROC Z, I had to have one. I had been saving for a while and had $3k to put down. That was a good chunk of change back then. So in 1989 I went to the Chevy dealer and wanted to buy one. To my dismay, you could not get a manual tranny with the 350, having a Camaro and no T-Tops was like Cereal and no milk. Sticker shock turned me off. $23k for a 350ci IROC, T-Tops and posi rear. WTF!? You could get a brand new Corvette for $27k back then. That was waay too much money for this kid. Payments would have been more than I could afford.
So as I was leaving with my tail between my legs, across the street was a Ford dealer, BIG signs,.. $2500 1st time buyer incentive program, Mustangs,.. Mustangs,.. Mustangs. I figured what the heck,.. I could at least test drive one. My $3k cash plus $2500 from Ford,.. I drove out of there with a brand new Mustang GT, fully loaded, 5 spd, 43 mi on the odometer for $12,600 out the door!! I owed $7100 for 36 mo. First thing I did was buy a Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine,.. 4 days later I was swapping out the stock 3.08 ring and pinion with a 4.10. I beat the snot out of that car until 93 when the new Z28's came out. 6 spd and 265hp, the mustang was on its 3rd T5 tranny under warranty,.. I kept breaking 3rd gear. I had to put it all back to stock each time I brought it to the dealer for warranty work,.. LOL. Camaro was fun too,.. but the light and nimble Fox body mustang was a lot more fun. I learned to like both.
My wife is the Trans Am nut. She likes Mustangs too,. her daily driver is a 99 GT, fully forged 4.6, TKO 600 tranny, Paxton with air to water inner cooler at 12 PSI, made 557 rwhp last time on the dyno.
