Everywhere you look it's $1 something a mile.
    Even Chicago area to Florida

I drove for a company Swift and Interstate Dist. along with a regional dry bulk and I just want to have something of my own. I know it is much more worry and costs more but I hope the worry and stress pays off.

As i've heard several wise old heads around here say , never lease a truck from the same place that dispatches the loads cause company trucks are gonna get the good ones and you get the scraps .

First get your license, then drive for 6 months to get up to speed on changes. Find loads, areas it’s hard to get load out of. But on companies dime. After 6 months you might have a few direct contacts. Within a year it’s possible you might have work lined up, an idea of time, costs. To make a rational decision.

Greatwide is just the opposite. They have very few company trucks and they get the crap loads the 0/0 Lease Purchase drivers don't want. The company trucks come in handy for stuff like local runs the 0/0's don't want.

Would it be better to find an O/O company to lease on to instead of a company with more company drivers than O/O drivers?

I would think so. I've never done a lease-purchase or been an 0/0. Never interested in either of those.

Something else to think about we have ELDs now you can’t run all the miles and do stuff like before. Reserve parking now you have to pay for if it’s your truck. It’s not a big expense but kinda makes trucking not as much fun because you have plan more and can’t run till you’re out of HOS. It just more stuff to deal with and Detention pay is a thing now. If you lease a truck it’s probably more work to collect detention pay. My company pays us for detention pay no matter, if they don’t collect it from shipper or receiver that’s their problem.
