How many guys here that say the rates are horrible, don’t do it, have your truck up for sale?

Agreed first I would not lease a truck because you don’t own, it like renting a house your not build any equity, your just building someone else’s equity. And not owning the truck you don’t really have a say in what you want to do with it. You’ll be doing what the company wants you to do instead of what your wallet says to do. I’ve owned two of them, bought them both and was very glad I did I was able to move them where I wanted them to make money.

I would avoid the lease purchase idea. You will be taking excessive risk for company driver money at best. Meanwhile, the carrier buys the tractor at near cost and turns around an sells it to you for at least 30 percent markup. They do this multiple times with each truck until it's paid off. Then they turn around and sell the truck again for a final time with title in hand. Most of the lease companies make more on selling trucks than they do on running freight.
Every once in a while there's a driver that finishes a lease. You could be that person but the odds are against you.
Most owner ops deal with a monthly payment, no weekly. The only way I'd consider was if I was using the LP as a stepping stone to being an owner ops, Maybe do it for a year, get a taste of running a truck, then go buy my own. All the best

No, 0/0's get first choice of all loads and company trucks get the leftovers. I was a company driver and still did OK.

I've never wanted to be an 0/0 or a lease-purchase driver. Prefer to keep it simple, so have always been a company driver.
Company drivers at Greatwide didn't have to stick around; that was the drivers choice. We did stick around because it was a decent company to work for.

As company drivers we didn't have to worry about what the load pays or any of that. Most of the loads I hauled were CH Robinson loads which were refrigerated. The 0/0's didn't want those loads and called them "Cheap & Heavy", but I couldn't care less about that; my pay was the same. Coast-to-coast & border-to-border loads from CH Robinson. 0/0's didn't want them but we did; there was about 5 company drivers there and the rest 0/0's.

    Neither did I,
That's good to know. I've worked for companies that had lease as well as company. When a lease guy would t-call a load 30 miles from a receiver that meant a company driver had to deliver. A lot of times those company guys had to fight for hourly shag pay instead of mileage pay. Good to know Greatwide is a step above bc it's a real.pain otherwise.
