Oh yeah Mike, I think I talked to you before. I am the one that had pancreatitus too! Boy was that a joy! I got it while we were over the road! Nothing like being in a hospital for 6 weeks thousands of miles from home!

I would tell them the truth and get as much verification as you can. Don't try to apply for a job over the phone but you can ask them questions. I never hired anyone that was too lazy to come see us. Sorry to here about both of you guy's illness. My father had that later on in life and he ate through a tube for months. I really feel for ya.

If you have US tax forms for those years, use those. Any wage statement from overseas; a copy of it, if you have it that shows a Date you were working or there. How about any souvenirs from your journeys? Do you have a picture of you and any host? Any pictures from that country that were developed there with the envelopes showing a date/place? ANYTHING that shows you were 'at that place' at that time you say?
How about any old airline tickets that you kept? Bus tickets? How about a Europass?? a Credit Card Statement from any of those years that showed you bought a Bus Ticket or Europass??? No? Yes? Did you not save anything for a souvenir of these trips?
Did your house burn down that held all your souvenirs? Get a letter from the Fire Dept that tells of it!
I'm out of suggestions.
"2001" I went to Europe and traveled amongst the people for 8 months", I have no proof, other than this: Here is a copy of airline ticket, a Europass, picture of my German girlfriend, picture of her car and I down on the Rhine River, picture of a beer stein that I bought in Munich,,,copy of court papers that I got of jail.....lol. Anything??

I don't think they actually check every reference, just want to see that you have it.My son got a call from his recruiter asking why he put down reason for termination from last job as" Let go for lack of work".The recruiter claims he spoke to the person we listed and they said he was let go for personality conflicts.I called the contact hopping mad wanting to know why he said such a thing;he said he never spoke to anyone from that Co;and I believe him because I know his family personally.Bottom line recruiters lie,ask anyone on this forum.lol

They can only check references if they can get a hold of them. I have a lot of references on my resume in which they have gone out of business or changed phone numbers, addresses etc... Try to do as best you can. If you do get cleared to go to orientation MAKE SURE you bring all this stuff with you. This will make your life a hell of a lot more easier and keep you from being sent home to get something you forgot or info that they need. Been down that road!
