Well heck, go to Swift's school. They're right there in Memphis (Millington), and they don't push lease on you like CRE. They offer a PTDI certified course, and will only cost you about $4K if you decide not to do the 26 months with them.

I just started my career driving about 3 months ago. It is true, you can make some good money driving. however, you have to have some kind of passion to drive or you will not make the money that you think. It is hard work and alot thrown at you at one time if you go into driving not knowing what to expect. I know alot of people that were in your situation and was told that they could make good money driving and getting to see the country and once they had about a month or two behind the wheel they were ready to give it up. I'm not suggestion not to pursue this career i'm just saying do all the research you can before you decide to do it. Yes there are alot of companies who will pay for your training, however you will have to stay with them a certain amount of time (most are for 1 year). If you don't all that money that was spend for training all goes on you. I went through Roehl which i had to paid to get up there and for the training but it was worth it for me. Was in a truck running solo in less than 5 weeks. It is a very fast paced program though and if you cant catch on quick it may not be for you. I tell people in my opinion to get the most out of Roehls training you need to have some kind of experience. Check swift, Central refrigerated, tmc. If you are not too far from a truck stop ride by, talk to some drivers in person, and grab some magazines. There are alot of companies in there advertising company sponsored training. Good luck.
