All of those rates kinda pissed me off.
This guy is gonna go buy a truck and run ####ty rates hiring bottom of the barrell drivers and just add to the problem we deal with every day.
Just another "buy a truck and start hauling freight, how hard can it be?"
I Want to Start an LLC and Buy a New Truck, but...

Guys, I'm sorry I posted anything here. I never meant to offend anyone and I was just looking for some basic info from you guys who are clearly the pros. If I could close this thread, I would, but I don't see such an option.
Again, thank you for the few constructive responses. -
Trucking is not rocket science, but some of us have to tell rocket scientists how to transport the rocket from the lab to the launch site. You were told something by an idiot and even though you considered the person an idiot, you took his words as gospel. Well, write this down:
You CANNOT be a good driver without understanding the business.
You joined this forum thinking, “Hey, these guys are stupid and they’re making good money...with my superior business sense, all I have to do is buy a couple trucks, hire a couple boneheads pay them peanuts, and watch the money flow.” It’s actually a common idea from people on the outside looking in. Those boneheads would blow through your $140k faster than a Kurt Cobain drug habit.
Many people think that if they drive across the continent and not hit anything, they’re a good driver. No, that’s a good steeringwheelholder. What makes a good DRIVER? You really should find out before you start spending money.Western flyer, not4hire, Blackshack46 and 9 others Thank this. -
Is this thread a joke? Lol....
Have you gotten quotes for insurance yet?
Did they tell you how many years experience your drivers must have?
If you know the industry and have access to reasonable insurance prices, with 2 trucks, IF you find good drivers, you might be lucky and make $20,000 net.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
Even less for me because I can only afford 1 truck! I grew up watching a man down the street who never drove a truck make millions by owning dump trucks. His fleet grew and the state highway authority / DOT hired his company a lot to haul asphalt. I always envied him... mostly since I grew up poor and this man right up the road had millions! He got out of the business before it started to crash and burn, as he put it. He owns so much stuff now... a trailer park of like 40 trailers (do the math.... 40 trailers X 200 / mo). -
Everything looks easy when somebody else is doing it.

Big bucks looks good on the load board but then you have to deal with the broker who won't give you the load because you have a new fleet, or you will get the load and then can't get paid - this happens often.Gearjammin' Penguin, Tb0n3, jammer910Z and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’m not going to throw any numbers at you, have been too many already, that $16,000.00 you’re looking at is not going to happen in a week.Justrucking2 Thanks this.
