I want to stream audio books to my truck radio

    I use the AUX for the IPod Touch music. Works fine.

    So you're using an IPod for your music, not your Android phone? I didn't catch that in the beginning.
    You probably do need a different aux cord. Depending on how new your phone is, there are newer cables that fit a little more snug that are required. They have a narrower plastic casing around the metal tip which plugs in.

    Thanks Gulf. Last night I plugged in the phone to the truck radio first, then downloaded/streamed the audio book.

    This time, a little headset icon appeared at the top of phone.

    Worked like a charm. All your suggestions helped me figure it out. Thank you.
