I had a couple of misdemeanor drug convictions and driving suspended in my past. I have stayed out of trouble and kept a clean driving record for the last 15 years, I have been driving with a class B for two years now, are there companies that will hire me to drive class A?

Considering how long it's been I don't see a problem with it and doubt many companies will either. If class b jobs hire you then I would think class a will too. What type of jobs have you have with your class b?

I have been driving a 24" flatbed working for a small metal company hauling steel, I started out in a 26,000 truck for 4 years and they asked me if I would get my B and start driving a 35,000. I found I like the work, I do all the overtime, and like the time alone in the cab.

look into expungement also. on dui's. it's 10 years from LAST dui. in utah anyways.

drug convictions are 7 years i think.

i didn't think i'd ever have to worry about my past. but i've had loads and what not that make me glad i expunged mine. the military says i shouldn't have any problem going into canada.

I think companies won't even think twice because your past is along time ago and you have a good work history. But I would call a few companies first before obtaining your CDL.There are a lot of flatbed companies I bet would love to have you as part of their team. Then once you get the exp you can go on to bigger and better things in trucking making some great money.

I really want to thank you all for your encouragement, I know I screwed up big time and have worked at making up for it. This is something I really want, not just for the improved earnings but because this is something I think I would enjoy and be good at it.
