Prime is a good company and if you are in good physical shape I would recommend doing flatbed with them. I wouldn't let an out-of-pocket travel expense for orientation deter you. Knight/Swift is a good company as well, but I would try to get on the Swift side doing flatbed. You should be able to call the Swift flatbed division directly at 800-800-3528 to help move along your recruitment.
I was approved for orientation at Prime Inc

IMO, Prime has the best training program. They are more selective than most companies that hire newbies. They have lots of rules & a procedure for everything. That appeals to me, but I'm a boy scout by nature, not a cowboy. IMO, if you are a newbie, you recognize you don't know everything about trucking & need to learn, if you have a boy scout attitude, not outlaw biker attitude, and Prime will take you, you should go with Prime. What they teach you & the process they require will make you a competent driver able to work almost anywhere but maybe a 1-5 truck company without a procedure for everything. I would never ever, in a million years, suggest anyone learn to drive a truck AND lease a truck at the same time. That's one of the worst possible things you can do in trucking.

Its not uncommon for companies to send you by Grayhound. Been there, done that. It wasn't that bad. You have the job and an opportunity to get into the trucking industry. Take it. You will be fine.

And this one didn't, oh well.
If the offer is the one that fits for you otherwise then it's really a small issue.
If you don't want to take greyhound, then take an offer from another company that will fly or rent a car for you.
Every company does things differently, considering the numbe of drivers they bring in that will be gone within 6 months I can see them going cheap on transportation.Lonesome and northstarfire0693 Thank this.
