I was just offered a job driving tanker. Pretty much local in NY. I'll be driving upstate NY, NJ, PA. Home every night. I can eaither take $20 an hour, or 44 cents "ACTUAL MILES" YES, START TO FINISH. And if I take the miles I get $28 bucks to load and unload. The product is a liquid so no heavey work. Takes about 45 mins to an hour to load and unload. I was told if I take the hourley $20 an hour I would get over time but theres a "TRESHOLE" I dont get this part. Trucks are all late model sleepers and some day cabs. So miles or hours, what would you do??
I was offered a job, what do you think?

No brainer to me $20hr.. At least you will know exactly how much you will make each week..
-
Easy, 20 an hour but for another reason.
Driving a tanker, you need to take your time.
Go around a turn too quick can be disaster.
How would you like to be paid by the mile through
a snow storm? I did it and its no fun. Much less
stress being paid by the hour. I have done both.
Live longer, get paid by the hour. -
HOURLY!!!!!!! You never know what you'll run into. I used to haul gas. When the racks were backed up I didn't care, I was getting paid to sit in line. A lot of other guys were upset cuz they were paid by the load. Waiting cost them money.
SO TAKE THE HOURLY PAY! -
Go on take the hourly and run with it. Sounds like a pretty good deal. As Truck Vet said especially in the winter up their thats a no brainer. Get stuck in traffic for 6-7 hrs cause a wreck your still getting paid my friend. Good luck and congrats on the new gig.

45 min to load?? What are you top loading with a garden hose. We load 9000 gallons in 10 mintes. Always take the hourly wage. -
I get paid by the hour. Truck break guess what, you are still getting paid. But then again I have to fix it so there you go. Some days you will will have made more money by the mile, but like someone else said it is nice to know that you will have a nice paycheck at the end of the week.

We're all on the same page. I already told them I wanted the hourly wage, they said no problem. Loading propane, takes about 45 mins to an hour to load and unload.

lol thats good.
but id agree take the 20 a hour and run -
Well, I went down today did the DOT Phys, drug test all was fine. Took the safety guy for a road test went great. I start a week from this monday. Heres how the pay works, I get $20 an hour. I get time and a half after 52 hours of work. So I get 52 hours # $20 an hour and time and a half after that. It's OK, I never heard of this but its a better deal then I get know.
