When I was the clean up weekend kid at the garage I now park at and get my repairs done, a new Canadian 3 driver unit came through needed repairs. Boss mechanic was there did not even go under the truck. Under carriage completely disgusting. He told them to leave.
That def is 32.5% urea to 67.5% water. What humans pee out is like 2%. Sounds like a great way to drive down costs...
I was told they are getting rid of DEF, could it be true?

Urinate in a DEF tank and you'll be calling a tow truck.

Too true Stan.
Cummins sell all size engine here as DEF only (no EGR) And are far more reliable/durable then the EGR versions. & with longer service intervals, because they're not getting 30% of their exhaust gas back through them. Bit like us breathing our farts all the time..LOL

You should try spending a day in the thrift hand me down shops here in Arkansas. The buildings generally do not circulate the air and there is a great deal of washing that will need doing with a building filled with clothing. Ugh.

So YOU are the reason the DEF "hole" is so small??? lolMidWest_MacDaddy, Terry270, 25(2)+2 and 3 others Thank this. -
Funny! I am sure they could not be that dumb. Are you sure they were not referring to getting rid of DEF within their own means? If so, such conversations are quite common. And viable too. If someone loses tens of thousand of dollars in repairs, downtime and opportunity costs then of course they will consider getting rid of DPF and only few will blame them.

Soot comes in different size particles -- the smallest & largest of which don't cause much harm, but the "just right" particles embed themselves in lungs and do all sorts of nasty stuff. The young, old, & asthmatic are most susceptible to this.
