    @Gamgee @BubbRubb
I would invest in some of those selectable weight dumbbells. I thought about going otr and being a competitive cyclist that too was one of my fears.... getting fat and not feeling good anymore. I'm not really a gym kind of guy, more cardio but those weights and a lot of push-ups and getting some runs in while on break were what I was thinking. If I was in a truck by myself I would have a BMX bike up on the top bunk so I could do box sprints while on break.

    BubbRubb and Gamgee Thank this.

Stick it out, get some experience. BUT DO NOT LEASE/PURCHASE, no matter how much they push it.

Do they push Lease to Own? And. When and why? - After 1 month with a trainer or 6 months experience with a partner OTR? What is the incentive? If you don't lease to own - you are left with whatever Tractor they have available - each new assignment?(What condition are they usually in? ie ... do I need repellent? I am getting cold feet I must admit but have been truckin' along with my studies for the CLP. - Still confused exactly what test I need to take to obtain the CLP just to take the CDL Classes. Is it one 50 question test? Or. Is the Air Brake test separate? Just for the CLP mind you. What I am trying to say is. The CDL Includes The Basic Knowlege Skills Test, Air Brake Test, and Road Skills Test and any Endorsement Tests you are trying to test out for. Right?- But the Commercial Learner's Permit Test? That is a shorter - separate - 50 Question only test? And the Commercial Learner's Permit takes approximately 15 days to be mailed to you. Correct? So. - I can not take the Classes (which are being held in a different state BTW than where I reside. Does that cause a problem?) - I can not take the Classes - Until I have that Permanent Lamented Commercial Learner's Permit in my hand, Correct? - I test for the actual CDL License Later. Correct? - Or - am I actually taking the complete CDL Knowlege Tests in order to obtain the CLP?( Commercial Learner's Permit)

See. I can't even explain what I am asking. The CRE recruiter kinda directed me to the medical Exam, and then left me to figure out how to obtain the CLP I need for classes at the DMV.

I feel like I am cramming for a test - for which I have not even taken classes for yet.

I love bicycling for sure. If I could - I would sell everything and just do a cross country Bucket List ride. sigh But I still have responsibilities.

There are practice tests on this website that you should take over and over again before going for your permit. If you haven't committed to anything with cre I would say run fast and far. I'm not saying don't go drive a truck but don't do it with cre if you don't have to...there is very little good to be said about them. There are other starter companies that will pay for school if you wanna go otr, swift for all the bashing it gets has plenty of drivers that finished their contract and moved on to bigger and better things or were able to make a career out of it. Stevens trucking pays for school and my neighbor that works there likes it (don't know if they hire west coast). You will get all the miserable people on here telling you not to drive because it's the worst job ever but that's not true. You will get out of it what you put in but you need to align yourself with a company that will at least give you a fighting chance for success.

I'm unfortunately not "out West" anymore. I am Central.(IL) I would like to get on a regular route though, that travels Central to Washington and back.(If there is one.)

CRE paid for my physical already. And. One thing that can be said about me. I am loyal. CRE recruited me. I must stick it out with them. Honestly. Any 1 Year Contract to "pay back for classes" is gonna feel like indenture, but I have heard that the experience gained is worth it.

Are people calling CRE the bottom of the barrel?

I just can't imagine truckers doing that, but hey. What do I know? I only know what I have experienced on my travels OTR on my own WA-IL and IL-WA and back. sigh And I have seen my share of The Dark Side of life.

Maybe I should just give this up and apply to BK. You all are acting as if this one year with CRE will kill me. I don't want that. Better poor than dead. Or worse yet. A living corpse.

    Oh the drama. :p

Have you tried Wilson logistics or Stevens transport? There are many companies that offer cdl training other than CR England.

Bottom of the barrel doesn't even begin to describe their reputation. I can understand loyalty. I worked at the same job from 17 to 37 when I could pull a retirement so I'm not one to promote job hopping but even this thread we are on....it's about people losing their ### working for cre.

Do you have a link to these Companies?
    And.
    What about the Medical?
    CRE already paid for it.
