Yep, stash a pocket full of money, walk out of divorce court and to the airport for a flight to the Orient for celebration.

Good luck in your journey. Get a set of dumbells and a jump rope to carry with you. Changing your diet and cutting sodas out will make a tremendous difference.

    JOGGING

it's been stupid cold outside. Like the cold that goes right to your bones- I don't have to tell you that, most of you (unless you're lucky enough to be in Florida or SoCal) are in the thick of it have noticed. And it was so cold I actually jogged back to my truck from the shipping office. I got back into the warmth, and had a little smile. I liked it. I liked the way taking a jog felt. So, I grabbed a pair of mesh shorts, threw on a sweater and an hat, and jogged around the shipper. For 15 minutes, that's all I could take of the cold. But my body was like, "hey now, let's do this again". It's gonna be in the 30's here in OKC today, so after my nap, I'm gonna go and do that again. I already am starting to feel better doing this diet and doing light exercise. You guys who have been putting off like me, it doesn't take much for the body to start rejuvenating itself. Take a chance, from one fat guido to my fat redneck friends. Healthy is where it's at. Don't leave this earth too early because of cheeseburgers. Having more energy and feeling better is a hell of a lot better than that cheeseburger, and a lot easier than I thought. Already dropped 3 pounds. Not too shabby.

You are so right. It feels great to finally be on the right path health-wise.

Jogging in that weather?! I truly have no excuse being in Phx. "I can't go jogging this morning, I almost froze when I picked my morning grapefruit" Nope, no excuse.

Meds are a money making scam, you got too much weight on yourself. I'm telling you from experience that just cutting calories, 4-500 less than your body needs a day that is currently killing you, eating lower GI carbs, and some exercise like kettlebell swings will fix most if not all the issues you have. Bonus is you would also be lowering your insulin resistance and giving your pancreas a nice downshift in insulin secretion while bettering its effect on lowering your glucose levels. Lowered insulin levels equal growth hormone secretion aka the fat releasing/burning hormone. Bonus if you fasted a few days a week, everything I posted above is multiplied, big time for using stored excess energy aka FAT.

    Get with it.

I'm making good progress after starting to deal with taking better care of my now 50-yr old carcass. Last year, I fired my doc for refusing to treat my low thyroid and low testosterone. The labs showed both to be in the low-end of the normal range. I began going to a clinic in OKC that does bio-identical hormone replacement. That by itself caused a drop from 245 to 233 and waist from 39 to 35, but then plateaued.
That was my tip that I had to do may part.... Just by chance I heard an interview on FOX news with the actor Joe Manginello. He was promoting his fitness book. I was familiar with him as an actor on "True Blood", but that was it. Got the book and started easing into the new diet and strength training plan. The diet is the easy part. Low-carb, high-protein, but not Atkins. I've done that in the past and burned 1/2 lb of fat per day. It's mostly eliminating sugars, alcohol and starchy carbs. One unrestricted "cheat meal" per week.
The weights have been a slow starter, with me trying to get equipment I can carry in the truck and use 6 days per week. I have a bench with adjustable back and folding legs that stows under the bunk. 2 15lb dumbells and two 10lb ankle weights. I should have an olympic bar, ez-curl bar and plates soon, which will increase the number of movements I can do.
The program is much more focused on lighter weight and a lot of reps. I'm having to "improvise, adapt, overcome" with what I have to work with, but I suck it up and get it done.
Example from yesterday: It was leg/tricep day. I don't have the bar & plates, so for barbell back squats, I put the pair of ankle weights on my arms and held the dumbells in my hands and did the squats. when it was time for leg curls and raises, I put both ankle weights on one leg and then duct-taped a 15lb dumbell on top of them. That gave me 35lbs to work with and no excuse for skipping those movements. These were done at a rest area on 287 near Wichita Falls. Raises sitting on a wall, curls done standing.
After the first 3 wks, I had dropped from 233 to 225. Very encouraging given the limitations in equipment. many can be done in the cab/sleeper.
    As for stats, I'm 50 6'1". I take 2 meds for hypertension, one for low thyroid and Soto-Pelle Testosterone pellets. Supplements daily: C 3000mg, D 5k, Fish oil 3k, K2 90mcg<blood thinner>, DHEA 100mg, Niacin 5k <it lowers triglycerides>, Melatonin 20mg at bedtime, 3 grams L-Arginine <3 before workout,3 later in the day>, Kre-Alkalyn Creatine 5gr before workout and 5 after, L-Glutamine 5gr after workout.
My wife & I cook steak.chicken, pork ribs and prep fresh veggies while at home. Apples and Avocados. I keep a bag of almonds & Brazils on the dash. I buy 42gr whey protein shots at wal-mart (not real tasty, but way cheaper than Isopure 40gr protein drinks at GNC. Protien shake mix and best of all.... Think Thin protein bars from Target or Walgreens. 24gr protein/20g carb, no sugar. Sugar-free Jello pudding cups.
It's more challenging doing these things while OTR, but well worth it...
