yeh its a fun ol world. To my memory and life experiences, this lack of helping hand all kind clicked up a gear with no win no pay litigation. Regulators didn't seem to restrict or cage the lawyers so years on we now have just reactions to fear. You engage at your own risk, and that can be quite high or life changing, or you walk away. Some see it as duty, many would get gratification from helping, but fear steps in for most.

The media don't help by usually over emphasising the negative effects of good samaritans. Given the chance they like to promote where it has gone ugly far more than where it went well. So this crystallises the reasons not too help more.

Than all the time community spirit declines, general optimism, personal happiness perhaps, etc.

I can see a similar governing ideology filtering through community with we are all fair and equal. Everyone is a winner and no one can be offended. Its like you can achieve but we are all equal, furthermore "I" am me, and I have rights to say and do what ever I want, and if I get offended by others than look out. Particularly if you are anything outside a white male or female of normal sex with no issues.

Got a young fella at school who is popular, good looking, smart. But he is stalked by a kid or two who needs more attention from their parents, or fails to step back and have a look at themselves. My fella has been patient but probably from me, is not to opposed to telling someone persistently annoying where to go. So the flip side is his in the dog house at school and the annoying kid with a "handicap of whatever" appears to be left alone because we understand.

    Just weird.

Not sure how to deal with it, but told the young fella just disengage which will have eventual similar effect to fear of litigation if he practices it enough. Or become a snitch and report every time the little #### pulls your bag, bumps into you for no reason, or taps your arm with a pen, or back with the lap top, or whatever. Who wants to know that kid though?
But when the annoying kid runs off to the teacher every time they get offended because they have been told, then that goes up line and flows on what other options are there.

    funny ol world.

It seems to me most people place “worst case scenarios” and “what if” ahead of their morals. My conscience doesn’t take a backseat. What is even worse is if you think the laws should dictate what’s right or wrong. Quick dip into a history book should see the fallacy in that.

I say you do you and I do me and I won’t even be mad at ya.

Problem is, if I stopped at every wreck I seen there are days a 2 hour run will turn into 12.....
Also, why is their poor driving skills my problem? I have more important things to do than fix their mistakes. Maybe if they would learn how to drive they wouldn't have gotten into a wreck.

I'm 4th generation solo independent. Have a 5th generation watching. Ill pull you, your family, driver, stranger from a bad situation and save you to get a lawsuit. But I was taught about integrity. Ill find a factory job and lose all of it. We all going home on my shift. Or my kid is gonna known her dad did everything he could. Not you Six, but lot of these candy big rigs should worry more about driving than paint and looking cool.

I have to apologize. I know a bad situation happened, but I haven't been in touch this year much. I'm glad to hear this news. When my slow plane crash ends, ill let you all know. Hope everyone the best. If he is back on the truck, he's doing the best he can. Better than 95%.

Fender bender, car into powered with 15 witnesses, I'm not slowing down either. You know the difference. I imagine a serious wreck you would do, whats needed. Idk maybe I take you wrong.

I was rescue before going into law enforcement. And I am an old school driver. LE was a huge eye opener. Got a dose of reality when a woman attacked me after I put her “man” on the ground for beating her. “But Sarge, I don’t believe in hitting women.” “We don’t pay you to take an arse whippin.” Got in trouble trying to help a woman who was pregnant and injured in a crash. Her husband attacked me for attempting to render aid to her. Foreign, from the East. That’s their belief, that’s their right. But, ‘they don’t pay me to take an arse whippin.’ The icing on the cake…some guy broke into some old dude’s house and the old dude(in his 80’s) cracked him with a bat. Perp ended up disabled, sued and the old dude lost his house and savings. Can you guess what Sarge told the old Man?

Been out here for a long time. Back in the day, it was nothing at all for some hand to radio me and ask if I could stop and check on a broken down car. It was nothing for me to give those folks a ride to a safe place. Things have changed. I wrote a post about walking out of the door of a truck stop, seeing a woman and holding the door for her, only for her to get an attitude. For holding the door. I hold the door for Men and women. Well, I am extremely cautious with women. This was unheard of in the old days, but now they want to call you toxic and accuse you of rape for being on the same city block.

People are garbage nowadays. I run with the vampires, and so I see bad crashes every single night, between 0230-0330. Usually running triple digits, swerving all over and losing it. Probably drunk. Probably named Karen or knows Karen.

I think I will stay in the shadows.

Not wrong as always. Just saying. Doubt you wouldn't follow my stupid Mick ### in a structure fire or a bar fight. We didn't start either. But we might finish both.

It's a situational thing for me.
In the old days it was not a question to stop and render aid but those days are gone.

2 yrs ago coming north on a 4 lane divided hwy, 52 north of Rochester, MN.
I'm driving the car and the wife is napping and I yell to her, check this out. We watch as a few hundred yards ahead a civic drifts off the road, hits a culvert and does a one and a half endo then rolls lands on the roof. I brake hard and dive to the shoulder telling the wife to call 911.
Run to the flipped car and the driver is nearly coming out the passenger window.
Young 21 year old woman on her way home from college. Typical fall asleep accident.
I put a rag under her head which was bleeding as she was laying on glass and told her not to move and help was on the way. Talked to keep her engaged.Several others had now stopped and were gathering up her stuff which was spread out for a couple hundred feet.
Waited till state patrol and the ambulance to arrive and was interviewed by them.
Nothing to say other than it was a typical fell asleep accident. Wasn't worried about being sued. I had it on my dash cam but didn't offer it.

In September I'm headed west near S.Dakota in my rig. Running 65 on a 2 lane MN state 7.
I've been watching a 4 wheeler in my mirror for 20 miles or so running up to my rear then dropping back repeatedly all the while drifting out of the lane of travel.
    So I call 911.
On the call I tell the operator about this very erratic driver, stating It could be a fatigued or drugged driver.
Give them the location and mention that maybe a medical incident as they are all over the road and shoulder.
When all of a sudden, as I'm talking w 911 the vehicle swerves into oncoming traffic and has a head on with a pick up.
Told 911 to send emergency responders.
Did not stop as I was rolling, cops were already responding and others had stopped. I checked later and nobody was killed.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago headed west on the northwest tollway outside of Chicago. Around 11pm. These clowns like to race in and out of traffic..
Well one must have clipped another and then crashed and rolled into the median barrier.
Literally like a movie with the smoke and the wheels still turning.
I passed and muttered "dumb mf" and turned up the radio, not thinking twice about calling or stopping.

It all depends on the situation and in the OP's scenario I keep rolling. And in decades of trucking I've seen too many.
