you can drive for anyone as long as the truck is your and not a company lease truck. you cant used "x" company's authority to work for company "y". good luck to find company's willing to let you bounce back forth.

My bottom line to my point is, you're barking up the wrong tree. This is not usually a viable business move. It's legal, Its just not a good option. Friends, buddies, co-workers, family... whatever, its just not a good way to do business. -
There are companies that are so large that you can just about go where you want to go when you want to go. some drivers go home after Thankswgiving and come back out in February. Some run Canada in the summer and south of I40 in the winter. Keep in mind that noone escaped this past winter if they were on the road.

When I drove my dads KW. We had signs bolted on the steps, one side was his authority other side was the guy he was leased to.
