Keep the city job and apply for ltl every where else. See what comes up. Otr is harsh for 1st 6 months. And better for some the next six months. Part time makes sense to me, to build up time and experience on cdl.

Ask Volunteer Express if you can work Monday thru Thursday. They may have some short runs to cover and the drivers doing the long runs wouldn't burn up their hours getting trailers loaded, etc.

i worked at Volunteer Express for a few years, they were always making promises they could not keep. it was a different company once you were hired on from what they were like to get you in the door. if you want to get into driving, i would go local for Averitt, they are hiring now.

To heck with that! I'd go into trucking! In fact I went into trucking after several back breaking jobs I had in the past. ABF, UPSF both have really good benefits and pension plans.
