I am considering training with Central, however I am concerned with keeping my home & car & paying my utilities back at home etc... After going solo are you making at least 650-700 a week before deductions on a regular basis? I know there are times that you may make less due to breakdowns or whatever...
I would like to hear from Central Refrigerated drivers

That is the least I made, after deductions, when I was averaging only 1500-2000 miles as a regional driver. (not many long runs doing regional...) in my first year!

Awesome, what kind of home time do you get running regional?
I forgot to include in my first post company driver pay only, I will not consider a lease. -
Sorry for the misleading reply.
I was commenting on the base pay and what should be expected. I was not with Central, I have only been a company KLLM driver.
At KLLM company regional drivers make/made 10 cents more per mile because of the shorter runs and more dock time.

Gotcha thanks for the info...

You actually probably stay out longer on regional and dedicated. Reason being is that you are given more of a standard route and you are solely responsible for that route. When you don't work that route doesn't get ran or they have to try and find someone to replace you.
Most over the road companies like Central, Swift, Werner, etc.... usually run 6-8 weeks out with about 3 days off. This is pretty much the industry standard. Don't let the recruiters fool you or try to tell you otherwise. Not to mention in order to make any kind of decent money out there this is what it takes to make a good average. Keep in mind that every time you go home it really messes up your pay for three weeks!
Personally I would recommend you just do regular over the road instead of regional or dedicated. You will make more money and its a hell of lot less boring!Side Box Thanks this. -
Doing local I get to see familiar people who are glad to see me because I am very easy to work with and make them laugh as often as I can. Running intermodal support around Chicago I rarely go to the same place more than three times a week so that gives me some variety. But having the same customers I don't worry about having to find directions to a new stop, worrying about weight limited routes popping up or low clearances, etc.
