Im a convicted felon i've just received my cdl a few days ago and have been accepted by a lot 3 companies already. Being a felon will not prevent you from getting work but will definetly minimize your options. mine is a drug felony which companies are really hard on but some companies work with them. some want 10yrs from conviction date some want 10 years from probation/parole completion/some only go back 7yrs it just depends on the ompany and their insurance provider. good luck out there man. there is a list of companies that hire felons on here somewhere i've seen it personally. Good luck

Im not 100% sure it has that much to do with the insurance comapanies calling the shot's. Maybe it does if your hauling freight across state line's but not sure. Here's the deal, I worked with a guy who had a double homicide, there was an opening for a local gig and we both applied, he was chose over me because he had nearly 20 year's experience over me, but they kept my application because I could get hired if another opening came available. We didnt actually apply we just went in and talked to them, they asked all the question's and hired him on the spot, so his felony's werent ran across insurance first. If they ran it later I dont know but he is still driving for them so I sometime's question how much insuarnce really has to do with it.

I have a felony in 1985, possession of controlled substance. If the company pulls a DAC report on me, the felony will still show up. I always tell the company that I'm interested in, that I have a felony and they tell me then if they can hire me or not. Most companies will hire me, but some are never ever.
