I would not pass the medical to get a CDL. Is there any way I can still get the CDL?

hate to say it, but I agree. Psychosis is a broad ranging subject. There are many "triggering events" that happen on the road.

That doesn't mean you can't get qualified. The medical doctor with supporting evaluation from a psychiatrist might get you past the hurdles.

Here's an good DOT medical pdf explaining your situation and how they handle it.

Then when some drunk runs into him and gets killed, the lawyers dig up all his skeletons and come back with the defense that he lied and shouldn't of been on the road in the first place. The blame gets passed on to him for possible manslaughter and sued for millions.

Drivers get sent home everyday for hiding info. This is a safety sensitive job regulated by the gov't, not a factory. It's better to be straight up and forward like the OP is doing.

Are there medications involved ? All meds must be listed on the physical form. Many physicians are pretty liability concious and won't qualify someone they consider a risk.

Negative kemosabe. Company Dr's are state employees. In most cases, a starter company will waiver their physical if you walk in with a current med card.

Insurance is a different ball park though. You can still be high risk to the company even if you have the medical card.

Yup never taken a company sponsored physical, wish they would do one and save me $50 bucks every two years:biggrin_25523:

Missed the State employees part...that I disagree with.

How are company doctors state employees? Every company I have worked for in the past 5 years has required a DOT physical by their doctor at orientation.

See the 2nd part of my post. Companies do their own physical for insurance reasons, not DOT regulations. If the physical is for DOT regs, the people administering the physical are state employees. Otherwise would be illegal.

Also, you've been driving for the wrong companies. Never once did I have to retake a physical with a current med card.
