hwy 99 has more places to stop than I-5. But I do like Santa Nella on the I-5.

I just go 59 in California and hope I don't run into a Trooper who's having a bad day. I can't make myself do 61-62, although I'm sure you're right. Don't want to deal with a 6-7 mph over the limit ticket:biggrin_25510:

I5 north to US97. Drivers choice for I84 or WA14, to I82. Just make sure you have your Oregon miles permit.

WA14 stays along the gorge till where I82 crosses to OR

You can do that but, IIRC would have to cut back south on WA22 to get to Granger. Not sure it would save time or miles. Bonus points for cruising the tribal lands.

Easy mode is run towards Umatilla.... WA14 on the north side of the Gorge or I84 on the south side in OR. WA14 you avoid 0.21 per Mile to Oregon and mega carriers on the interstate., trade off is 60 (OR is 65 there) MPH speed limit and 2 lane road, but mostly competent drivers.

first time in the PNW. Summer and grossing 59k only in a reefer. I was really able to appreciate that ride up US 97, I was expecting it to be more like the Washington part of the highway for the entire stretch. Great run.
