Everyone at some point should go over U.S hwy 6. [ Around the Eisenhower tunnel ] Quite the ride. I think my wife had her eyes closed the whole time.

I'd been over it a few times before. We were going eastbound and I told the wife we where going to take a short cut. [ Over loveland U.S. 6 :D ] It's not bad till you top out. Then she freaked. It's all air on the drivers side and a bank on the right. I told her eastbound is the good side your next to the bank. Of course you hit the first switchback and all you see out the front with a big hood with a bug visor is sky all around. Good times.

That reminds me of when I was in Alaska and we were out playing around in a 4x4. Not tearing things up but just going where there were no roads. I came up to this hill that I could not see over as I pulled to the top so I stopped. We got out and walked up about 50 feet then we saw that it was a good thing I stopped. There was a 1500+ foot drop right down to the beach. Sometimes you have to listen to those little voices in your head.

yeah, in my earlier days as a newbie for NAVL (North American Van Lines-Comtrans division) I had a full load of Whirlpool appliances. I was heading for the Eisenhower tunnel, but a JB Hunt truck was backing out of it, I do not know why, so I was coming up on the Ret 6 by-pass, and took that.

I wish I hadn't, but I survived all those switch-backs. can't say my brakes did, and my then co-driver, a 20 year old, was as scared as I was at my age of a mere 30.

what a way to pop one's cherry.....

dam JB Hunt drivers.....dam'em to all hell...........

well, this goes back to......maybe 1989 (ish)...I cannot swear to it but I think I did see other trucks go thru there, maybe JB Hunt had placards..??? I didn't take notice, as that Rte 6 by pass was coming up fast, and I needed to make a decision then.....
