I don’t fault you for refusing to pull it. Just sounds like you were working for a Clown company.

Personally I’d throw some money at a lawyer to send them a letter. First it’ll make them squirm and sweat and think twice about talking crap about you.
I believe that there’s a way to report them to the fmcsa..something along the lines of coercion..not sure exactly.

 

Have a lawyer write the letter.
Threatening them with a wrongful termination suit. Or a defamation lawsuit if they post something to an employment agency.

They can't fire you for refusing to do something illegal. That is wrongful termination lawsuit waiting for you
