hahahaha. That sounds like an EXCUSE. But I kind of liked drew. Well, maybe that was the point if that was the case...

Anyway I met him in the drivers lounge in the Fifth Wheel truckstop in Cornwall, Ontario. I didn't realize it was him at the time, but he mentioned he had driven on the ice roads and we briefly discussed the show. Talked a lot about trucking in general, ice roads in Manitoba, layovers and sucky dispatch, etc etc. After he said he drove on the ice roads, i started thinking...this guy seems darn familiar. He was pretty cool but i always enjoy hearing about the old times from truckers.

I chatted with Drew on the History Channel IceRoad Truckers blog page. He stated that they selectively editted the content for the show. It is not an acting job Drew was actually an idiot.

Selectively edited for the show. So if I crash and go to the hospital then I won't be on TV? Will I still get paid? How about workman's comp if I fall 13,000 feet off a cliff? Does the history channel offer life insurance? How about dental? Can I collect unemployment in the hospital? Because I need to file every week, so if I fall off a cliff, how do I enter my social security number over the phone every week? By the way..... is a parachute and ejection button part of the insurance policy?

Life insurance is probably out of the question. They might think death is actually a possibility, and why give away 20,000 dollars? Oh well, I am happy with my weekly paycheck and dental insurance.

If this is on the level, It should be about all driving aspects of the industry student driver, veteran driver and a driver in between. also the effect it has on their personal relationships of all involved. I would think it would be somewhat of an eye-opener to the general public as well anyone interested in being employed in the industry. the lifestyle/job itself is extreme enough even from what little I know about it and soon will be in it. just my .02
