A cold weather survival kit is not only a good idea its a must! Driving over the road on the winter without a survival kit is just asking old man death into your truck cab at some point in the future. Now it dont have to be as extreme as those who travel the ice roads but extra blankets or better yet a cold weather sleeping bag, candles for heat, mre's or some other long term food, cold weather boots, insulated under garments and coveralls with good gloves and head covering. Sunglasses are also a must to prevent snow blindness. Another good heat source is the sterno heat in a can which can also be used to heat can goods. Basically ask yourself what you would need to survive if your truck was stuck somewhere cold for a few days to a week and wasnt able to idle. You need to be able to survive til someone can reach you if for some reason you cant call out. Better to have these things and not need them than to not have them and wish you did. Oh and a good first aid kit with bandages, quikclot, and pain killers is good also and dont forget the water(three days without water and you die).

Two of the most important items to take were left off that list. Knowledge and Common Sense.

I live in a remote area and no matter what the time of year can be faced with being stranded at any time. There is something to be said about resourcefulness as well.

PS I love winter, the colder the better.

    CadetTrucker Thanks this.

Using sterno for heat in an enclosed environment is a bad idea. The fumes can build up enough to kill you.

I'm going to team over the winter months..... in as many layers of clothes as I can stand to have on. Lol I have no natural insulation so I have to add some, or a lot actually...

10 days ???????????????? You'd have to be in the grocery business to carry that much.
