I don't know where you live but I will tell you this, the U.S.A. is a place with a lot of different people, cultures, and sub-cultures. You will be out and about in this country. Some people, cultures, and sub-cultures do not mix well and therefore may cause you to use discretion at times.

I know of a lot truckers in the same boat as you. They have found it best not to place stickers or decals outwardly facing on their truck for the reasons mentioned. They have also commented they have been scared at times but those times are very rear and they have had a lot of excellent times as well. I would worry about anymore then what I have just explained.

Youre right BUT they sure do chase ME down everyday,it gets old quick! If THEY would take your advise it would be a lot more fun... But unfortunately it's ok for them not him...(I'm assuming its a guy asking) Its a brand new world, and closets are for shoes if some one was to ask him that is.I believe everyone should go to work and do their job and be professional whatever your industry, and being social is great as long as "personal" subjects never come up in the work place. That goes for everyone. Not just for "some".There is nothing better out here than having a wonderful conversation with someone and enjoying yourself (when you have the time that is) and the conversation stays clean!
    Happy trails all...

    Ed,

I think you're more likely to have trouble with dock personnel or dispatchers than you are with other drivers.

Most are "live and let live," myself included - especially if they don't know what your sexual orientation is. Also, a lot of drivers are "all bark and no bite."

You might hear some coarse comments on the CB, but you can always switch it off.

Regardless of your sexual orientation, be aware of your surroundings, make sure your dog is seen, and carry some pepper spray. A good, solid tire knocker can come in handy, and you can carry it in your shower bag, if you feel the need to do so.

You should know this going in, this (trucking) in any form, is a profession. If you conduct yourself from this standpoint, you should be just fine. Most problems come about when we (people) force our personal views on others.:biggrin_25525:

I'm a new trucker, and I've been yelled at over the CB for way less. The a-holes are going to be a-holes whether you like it or not for any reason they can come up with. There seems to be a lot of truckers in bad moods all over the place. Just ignore them. Then again, I've had run ins with some extremely nice, welcoming, and friendly people. There seems to be extremes in personalities out in the trucking world. Just remember that if anyone gives you any grief, you're probably never going to run into them again anyway.

For someone to attack on the cb you had to have done something ignorant to piss someone off IE. Cut someone off, pass and slow down etc. I log alot of miles every year with my radio on and have never had anyone start something with me on the cb.

And this is a small world on the big road and you will likely see many people many more times to come.

To the OP. As long as you dont proposition or come out and say "I am gay" while talking to other drivers you should be fine. We had one guy here who anytime something went wrong he talked about companies discriminating against him because he was gay and he wanted to sue every one. Dont be that type of person and you can do quite well for your self.

yeah like they've been doing for years!!! Lmao as long as we agree, heck yeah come on. Be just like us and we will love you!!! I think I heard that from a few pioneers. "Some" didnt agree with African Americans or Jews...but this is the Land of the Free..for all not some.
Americans have been "forcing " our views on everyone,it's what we do.If you don't agree with us,just ask us...lol

I've been on the road for two weeks, and I apparently took way too long to back into a spot for one trucker to handle. That kind of garbage isn't justifiable even if someone did wrong you. Immature swear-filled outbursts have no place in a professional environment for any reason.

i promise you, that's ALL you have to do is have a feminine voice and this will change for you.
