I'd like to introduce myself...
I'm a recent grad from Atlanta, Georgia. Got my CDL last Tuesday. Looking for a good OTR position with a company that hires women. I'd like to be able to bring my mini dachshund, Miss Etta James on the road with me(after training of course). Does anyone have any advice on where to look, what to look for and what to look out for?
I have applied at several companies but haven't gotten too many hits yet. I am eager to start my new career so maybe I'm being a little impatient??? I have a clean driving history and clean criminal history. My work history may be what's holding me up. I lost my job as a restaurant manager due to bankruptcy of the company a couple years ago and have been bouncing around with different jobs ever since...office cleaning...vending machine route. That's when I decided to make a serious career change and put myself through CDL school. I love being behind the wheel of a BIG TRUCK and can't wait to get on the road!
Anyway...I would really appreciate any advice or direction anyone may have to offer and thank ya'll for your time.

Watkins & Shepard has a terminal in Calhoun, hires women, and can take your pet. They haul carpet, so you won't be doing any loading or unloading, a forklift driver does it.
If that doesn't work, try Central Refrigerated and Ozark.
Ask any company if they want you to explain any periods of unemployment. If so, you can get a notorized letter signed by family or friends or neighbors, that you were unemployed due to the company going bankrupt & you were doing odd jobs while looking for full time work. -
Thank you so much for advice.
