Let me add that YOUR attitude toward your fleet manager will also greatly affect how good of a fleet manager you have.

Wow, a lot of mean truckers on here; the guy made a legitimate complaint about his experience and most everyone is jumping his bones. It sounds like some fake company guys pretending to be truckers. Listen, the guy mentions, "helping them out" not himself; if he has to go home 300+ miles away, they need to get the loads to get him through home, after all, they are big-time load brokers in their fleet right, they tell you that they've lots of loads when you attend orientation, then later on they change their story...what's new right! Long story short, sounds like IDC is a bunch of jerks like the rest of the big companies that think that drivers are little kids and they can treat them like crap...As usual, I've to mention that there's no perfect company, it just depends how much crap one can take before is all goes to ######...what's your fancy!

Yea some people are reading challenged. The OP was told they would get him home on their dime then that is what they should do if they can't find drivers to do it that live closer.
I liked IDC when I worked there, but I had a brand new Volvo and a Frtshkr when I worked there and we got vacation pay based on a 52 week average, holiday pay, layover, detention, dock pay, yep they payed you 10 bucks every time you bumped a dock. great facility's appointments for service work, frequent truck washes.

The down side was the constant dp on loads that had plenty of time when dropped or preloaded but sat till just barely enough time to get to the consignee or needed to be resch or worked into the schedule on stand by.

The IDC today is nothing compared to what it was and you notice that most that like them now are newbies and teams. Solo's should never work for a company that has lots of high maintenance teams to deal with.
