Hey Everybody, If you were to start a trucking business today, and had the option of moving as well, where would you settle and why? I have the option of going to the (Sacramento, CA / Reno, NV) area, or Miami, Florida. I will be running reefers. Are there any advantages/ disadvantages to the east vs west? Im here looking for help, because my heart is torn and cant decide myself lol. Thank you in advance for all your insight

Miami? Cryptanite for trucking.
-
Do you feel the same for all of florida, or miami specifically? why?
-
It's like Hotel California.."you can check in but you can't check out!!" Just really hard to get outta there, especially Sfla

Florida & Nevada have no personal state income tax. Nevada, you're closer to the CA produce heading East and the Southwest produce heading to Alaska & Canada.
Maybe some others can give more detailed information than I can. -
thanks for clarification, that makes sense. Ive heard there are plenty of loads, but they are already spoken for. i.e large trucking companies
-
Thanks chinatown. I see your from Henderson. I would be moving to Tahoe, but basing my operation from REno. How is the reefer market in Vegas? steady loads, or hit and miss?

Miami for a reefer is better than Miami with a dry van. Neither one is good. There is good freight there but you have to sniff it out and get it direct. Hablas Espanol is necessary to do that though. Weather is much better on the East Coast ie Donner, Elk, Sherman, Cabbage, Snoqualmie etc. and I-5 sucks!
chalupa Thanks this. -
I bought a home there this year because I like the hot weather and cheap home prices. I'm 10 minutes from the strip. Right now I'm in the Orient. Best wishes on your new venture. -
i would NOT -- start a trucking business in MIAMI - for to many reasons to list hear
