I think that by now I have looked at and read about every company offering paid cdl training. There are good ones and some not so good. Anyone out there in trucker land have points in the right direction?

You're in Caldwell, why don't you just go to Sage?
-
Thanks for your input, I have been looking at Prime but had not considered FFE. I am not opposed to any rig configuration just trying to find the right company without being taken advantage of at the same time. As with anything all angles need to be considered.

Sage is just down the road, tell me more if you can.

I went with Prime... Actually sitting in Idaho now on a break. Despite what you hear on here and truck stop b/s, its a good company. Ive been here almost a year. Actually be one year the 23rd of this month. If you come in as a PSD (no CDL) after completeing PSD and obtaining your CDL, youll make a minimum of $600 a week. Any miles over 5000 are paid at 12cpm.

I am just finished the school at Stevens, heading out with a trainer in the morning. Fast paced but pretty thorough too. It is going to be a personal decision why you choose who you do. Me I liked the sound of the training program, and the fact the equipment is very new. I figure with all the trucks being under warranty that is one less thing I need to worry about while re acclimating myself.
Truck companies are like women... what you liek about one, someone else will not like and what others find attractive on another you will wonder why...
Good Luck!GAlanFink Thanks this. -

I couldn't have said it better. I would, if I had to do it all over again, do what I did in the first place and NOT go to a Trucking Company for CDL training. I went to a Driving School and, because of a short lapse in my driving record I went through a 'refresher course' with C.R. England. The difference is exponential. A decent Driving School will teach a driver far better than any Trucking Company because they are following a training curriculum rather than pushing drivers out into the market.
C.R. England was, in my opinion, a 'puppy mill' for drivers. I got students from their driving school as co-drivers that really knew nothing about driving a truck... both of them that I did get, shouldn't have left the parking lot yet.
Of course, this is my observation and it may not be shared by others. I would recommend a qualified driving school over ANY Trucking Company.KMac Thanks this. -
thanks for the info. I have been considering Prime just not quite done looking. What did you think of the school and your mentor?

I have heard some not so great things about Stevens, accommodations while in school and the trainers you ride with.
