We in our team truck in 2001 put about 8000 hours on our detriot S60 if it was not idling a couple hours daily, it was ROLLING at 63. Such as it is. Just had to feed it a few alternators every 6 months and a gallon of oil once a year. The last time I checked the ECM data on that engine when we left showed that FFE spent approximately 85000 dollars in fuel more or less 5K that year. Combined that with our payroll, truck lease and costs etc they made their money. lolz.

I’ve sitting here idling for about 2 hrs now with my fresh OH 12.7 2,000 miles on it. I’m getting nervous reading this thread. I’m going to run the hell out of it, when I leave here, in about an hour. The horrors of idling and using ether, have been way overblown.,True it’s the most inefficient use of a Diesel engine. But not as damaging as they claim.Little idle, like a little ether, Don’t hurt nothing. Just my opinion.
