I don’t know why but I really love the old 4070B’s.

This is now my father in laws truck. I found it in a locally, sunken down in the dirt behind a grain bin. I made a deal with the old guy who owned it and now it’s my father in law’s. He drove them when they were new, so he kinda deserved it. I’m currently rebuilding the engine in it. 2CFE59A5-2D2C-4D80-ADDD-4B292008C247.jpeg

I would personally get rid of all that given the first chance. I really like old trucks but there are somethings that have really improved. ie: outboard drums.

I ran across one the other week that has a silver 92 in it. Pretty rare as most had Cummins or if they did have a Detroit it was a 238. I’d love to have it but they want 40 grand for it.

One thing I learned a long time ago is both International and White built and or engineered a lot of there own stuff or had someone build it to their weird specs. That hub and drum set up because the way it is mounted by the five bolts instead of the 10 wheel studs like all the other inboard set ups made it pretty much obsolete from day one. 7390161B-3C67-4477-A65C-64CAD827D03C.jpeg
Here’s another example. Anyone ever seen a threaded screw-on Stemco front hub cap? Used on White’s only in the 60’s. Used on hubs with 3-1/2 wide brake linings and 5 wide drums on a tractor with 72+k Gcwr. No one makes replacements anymore. Stemco has no one working for them anymore that believes they even made the cap for White. Lol.

Because he’ll(FIL) be asking me this afternoon and y’all are a wealth of knowledge, to keep the axles and rears, what do we need to get rid of in this set up and what can we retain(bearings, hubs, drums, brakes,…)? Basically convert it to basic hubs for budds.

There is suppose to be a CL9000 with a Silver 8V92 / RTOO transmission around here local in Ohio, sure like to find it. I’d put the Silver in the General and give it a good going over….
