Stop being cheap and get a nice Motel Room and relax..You will be better off ''health wise'' than sleeping in a #### Coffin.

You get a free breakfast, cable, nice shower, nice bed, and have room to move. You can enjoy the lounge and the girls too.You also enjoy the write off.

That is the one that I am looking at, small, compact and light weight, it would be easy to store it in my headache rack (with some rearranging) and I could just pull it out when needed and let it run right on the catwalk. I would come up with some way to keep the honest honest, so that it does not grow legs and walk off at night, those Honda's are not cheap, but the extra cost will make up for it with how cheap they run.

Found this on truckpaper the other day. Might be a good set-up for the HONDA you are looking at buying

That is something I want to stay away from, something that is frame mounted. But it could work if I hung it underneath my trailer. I have step boxes on my frame now, and would rather go without some type of frame mounted setup, I refuse to go without my step boxes.

sure is a lot of farting around to get all that stuff hung, mounted, plumbed, situated and such on the truck.

And what's the final cost going to be? You still don't have bunk heat. The tripac includes an Espar bunk heater. I also have an arctic kit on my truck. I turn the APU and walk away. It will keep the engine warm enough to start even on a -10F day.

I chose a TriPac because of a LOT of the system features it provides and allows me to have.

You do not HAVE to use the TK inverter that comes with it. It's working for me at the moment, so I continue to use it. Eventually, it will be replaced with a 2500w full sine wave inverter.

The ONLY weak point I see on my tripac is the belt tensioning. It's mechanical. I have a quick plan in my head on how to make a new tensioner that uses a spring to keep it tight. I just need to make it some day now.

Yet you talk about how "ugly" it looks installed on a truck. How fugly is it compared to a roof mounted A/C?

I must have missed the post claiming apu's are ugly, I know I said no such thing. And roof mounted ac units are not going to add style points either. But I can get a good roof top ac and heat unit for $1000, the Honda generator for $2000, figure another $1000 for misc hardware to be on the safe side, and I would have a system that weighs half of a common apu system at half the price, uses less fuel and uses a cheaper fuel than diesel. As far as cold temperatures goes, if it is in the teens or colder I personally wouldn't shut my truck off anyway, so that is one advantage that I don't see for me with either system. I am full of Dutch blood, so my instincts are to go the most economical route possible, we Dutch are a bunch of penny pinchers.

There's a reason that, if someone is going to idle, they would run at high idle. It's to prevent sludge buildup in the bottom of the crankcase and carbon buildup at the top of the cylinders.

get the honda auxillary tank it has a gas cap you just screw on the main tank and it extends the run time to 20+ hrs. and you can use it to get gas from a pump when you walk!
