IdleAire trucking services company files for bankruptcy

As of June 1, 2008, the NEW ridiculous pricing for Idleaire is as follows:


Silver membership: $2.45 per hour.

Gold membership: $2.89 per hour.

Our ComfortPro APU is looking better and better each day.

 

Okay, I got the gold and silver memberships backwards, but the numbers are still the same. That means if you hooked up to their service 10 hours each night for 30 straight days in a month, you will pay a minimum of $735 per month or $8,820 per year!

I think they simply don't want you to do the math to see that it's not really financially feasible. I just don't see how carriers can get along now without APUs. I guess we'll wait and see.

 

IdleAire's big mistake is trying to get drivers to pay for a service that really should be picked up 100% by the company that owns the truck. with fuel prices over $4.50 a gallon it is worth the money for them to pay out to keep their cost down. the driver will never turn of the truck to keep warm or cool if the fuel is not costing him money. I want to be comfortable on the road and I know that lowdown dispatcher of mine dosen't turn off the heat or ac while he is off so why should I.

 

Have any of you heard of these two new companies, Cabaire or AireDock? I saw an article on here about these emerging companies that are hoping there is still room for growth "electrified" truckstops.

Just when I thought Idleaire was finally going to go away, then I hear about these companies. The only thing better about these two concepts is that they both appear to be unattended/automated type of services. What do you think? Will they even be capable of pricing this to be feasible? Is it still too much infrastructure?

 

I will tell you how.

They tell their drivers not to have idle times of no more then 10% or else, and could care less if they roast to death in the summer.

The issue of APU's, will become a recruiting issue. Drivers will go to company's that have them, and stay away from company's that don't.


It should just be made mandatory that all trucks with sleeper compartment have APU's, period.

I think a company driver that gets a ticket for idling that does not have a APU might have a case against their carrier for allowing them to operate in a unsafe work place. Opening the windows just does not cut it or the noise it lets in either.

 

One thing is for sure I never used them, but If I needed a space to park at night, I did no matter what they said. They never bothered me so nothing was ever said.. If they do go chapter 7,13, then that means all those stations they put up will have to be removed. Who do you think will do it? The truck stops, and if you think prices are hight now, wait until they finish and pass the cost on to us..

Well, it now appears that Idleaire Acquisitions Co, LLC, the company formed by a select group of banks to acquire Idleaire assets, is inching closer to acquiring the assets of Idleaire.

According to http://www.bloomberg.com/index.html?Intro=intro3 Judge Kevin Gross with the Delaware Bankruptcy Court has denied the request of the U.S. trustee to appoint an examiner to the case.

If there are no other bids by July 1, 2008, the "auction" won't take place and the credit bid made by Idleaire Aquisitions of 10 million dollars, which has basically funded operations since bankruptcy, will apply towards the purchase of Idleaire assets. If additional bids are made, an auction will occur on July 3, 2008 and all Idleaire assets will be awarded to the winner of the auction. Currently, it appears unlikely that any additional bid will be made, as there has been no indication of interest in Idleaire assets by any other party.

The question is: Will Idleaire Acquisitions LLC attempt to continue operations, most likely at a continuing loss, or will they close the doors and sell off the assets piece by piece as a vulture fund?

 

Considering the select group is made up of previous owners of debt
I assume they will keep going
Other wise it only takes three to force liquidation
