I just happened to get lucky the truck I purchased years ago had a factory installed Carrier APU. I knew then I would NEVER own a truck without one. It took many months of searching and waiting for the market to correct itself, but I found a 2020 Cascadia with a TK Evolution, again, factory installed. Now, would I ever be able to justify spending $15,000 on a new one? Not No, But Hell No. When buying a truck with one already there, it's basically free. Also, I know all about the used models from takeouts for 1/2 the price. I think something like an APU installed at the factory level is a much better and cleaner job. That's why I didn't want to go that route.

Just a thought too...We keep using this $15,000 for the price of a new APU. Seems like that's what they cost a decade ago. They might be $20,000 now.

I noticed that my truck has been having issues starting unless I turn the key manually. Seems like the battery is dying.

Ha..
My company made a gross profit of nearly 14B and a operating profit of over 500 million.
Fuel cost does not factor into my considerations when it comes to idle time/driver comfort. But I'm talking an hour or 2 and not days. -
We rode all night for an hour and a half nap before we load……I idled, I do not think an APU would have been profitable today or the many days like it
flood Thanks this.
