Yes Sir it’s a N14 intake with a N14 525 HT60. When I was driving for Pop back in the 80’s the biggest thing he owned was a few “HOT” Big Cams, a KT & really HOT 3406 lol. All
These trucks were Big Cams except the white / blue 362, it had a real hot 3406. When this picture was taken I was driving the Transtar, 290 BC with a 10spd.
Idling with a Big Cam Cummins

What a world we live in. Over complicated piles of BS. I think of a Meme of a modern electronic jitter monster... then a overseas immigrant aiming a american store style laser scanner at the whole truck. Learn two sounds.
BIP! =) good to go.
DERP! =( failed pretrip. Fix.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
No problem bolting the intake up and getting rid of the after cooler?
I saved a pallet of N 14 parts, I have the intake and exhaust and even a turbo (not sure which one) but I would want a new one anyway, and would have to buy an air to air. I have a nice A model that currently has a big cam 111 that could use freshening up, I have been on the fence between inframing it or just going with an electronic engine and newer tranny.
A stought big cam would be cool, if I could hold with the stock 550's.
How does yours pull compared to say a 525 N 14? -
The intake will bolt right to it no problem.
I will let @OLDSKOOLERnWV tell you about his engine, but I know a bit about that monster.
As far as comparing his engine to 525 horsepower or 550 horsepower...
If they lined up side-by-side and pulled a gigantic mountain, he would just take off and would be rapidly out of sight.
That big cam has so much more, it's unfair to compare them.Rideandrepair and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I don't know what big cam 525 will do against say a Detriot 60 515...
The brake hp ratings should not even be the same. Those old cams should develop more.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Old schooler os that a b model kw that big cam is in.
Besides the N14 intake and turbo, what else have you one to the engine, I am assuming pump and injector work.
If I go this route, it will be starting out as a big cam 111 400 (not sure on cpl, but can change if need be anyway)
Also If I go with the big cam, I would like it to pull, but don't want to make it so hot it doesn't stay together.
We have some steep grades here and the guys that juice their cats up too much have a hard time keeping them together. That is the E's C 15 and 16's and the acerts, it seems like the hot B models hang in their pretty well, but even they will have warped cranks come bearing time, and there is no lace in Alaska I have found to straighten cranks or line bore blocks.x1Heavy and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
That black A model has been for sale forever, I've seen it in more than 2 truck papers and online, I believe it's in Md, near Baltimore. N14 is definitely where I'd want to be If I was going Cummins, or KTA, but I like my little 12.7, no emissions, not even a wastegate on the turbo. Its even got the chrome top, although it's peeling in a few spots.
Grubby, OldeSkool, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -

I do fear one thing. A total and absolute refusal of all states to register anything not capable of supporting computers. It would regulate much of what I know to the heap of history like my Pa and his Steam trains then.OldeSkool Thanks this. -
That would cause some rebellion up here. lots of old school trucks hauling every day.
