If toll reimbursement is not specified in your contract, you have no recourse in getting them paid. Read your contract!
I run percentage and pay all my own tolls. Averages about $125/mo. No great shakes in the big scheme of things.
If I have to run near Chicago or across the top of Indiana, which I do once every 3-4 months or less anymore, I usually just stay on the toll roads because of the time factor. By the time you use the alternate routes, stop for lights and stop signs, etc. you'll use as much money up in fuel as you save in tolls. My time is more valuable than the occasional toll charge.
If a company drops Ez-Pass--RUN!!

Can you turn them into a collection agency?

If they do not pay the tolls and they route you on non toll roads and pay for those miles, run the route they want. If it takes more time, they will have to live with it.

Or companies could just be tired of drivers taking unauthorized toll routes. Kinda hard to not pay for those routes when they give drivers a blank check
Ask a company driver what the green stamp in PA costs. You can tell the ones that turn in receipts and those that don't. -
Most companies are paying the short route miles, and not paying tolls. If the company wished to pay the out of route miles for not using a toll road, no problem.

For some reason my terminals EZ-Pass went down for a few days last year - think it was realized on a Friday morning. They gave us cash for the tolls Friday night rather than requiring us to pay the tolls and get reimbursed. A lot of drivers here swear this place sucks but little things like that are why if I'm driving a truck it will be here..
