I've run under the old regs and the new ones. Despite not being able to stop the 14 hr clock, I prefer the current 11/14/70 with the reset.

    #2.

Never ran under the old HOS, the new proposal is way too complicated.

As it stands right now, the logs can be audited against a passive EOBR. It's called the ECM. I have seen printout records from mine. It shows dates and times when the truck was running, its speed and whatever "codes" the motor was throwing. Granted, it does not show locations. But, that's easy enough to figure out with BOLs and receipts.

From most things I've read they don't seem to be leaning to the 10 hour driving. Both 10 and 11 were considered as part of the proposal. We'll see though.

What we have now is better than old 70. With some minor tweaking it could be the best ever. What is missing from both sides is the difference between drivers and the mandatory rest hours. If you look at old 8 off : and I'm doing a regional flip, and I get in at 0600....n park my stuff n dump my paperwork, then say 30 mns to the house, then I gotta eat n shower. It's going to be 0800 before I'm asleep,,,,but I have to be back by 1400, so I'll have to get up 1.5 hours early to make it. So what did I get? 4.5 hours of sleep in a perfect world? I did this schedule like this and I was tired.....

These regs are just as much for the profit hungry carrier as they are for the starving L/O. There has to be a check valve....

Up to me? EOBR and no stopping the 14. The 14 can be any way you want it. Or 12 ! Situation dictates and 10 rest. keep the 70 / 34

under the old system you could stop and take a snooze in the afternoon and not be penalized for it, productivity wise, and I don't like other situations that the 14 hr rule creates.

But I do like the 11, and I really like the current 34 reset. So just to be a real truck driver and complain, I want a hybrid! (but NOT a hybrid car.)

OTR, I hated not being able to stop the 14. Driving local now, I wouldn't want to get rid of it.

The present HOS wouldn't be bad if you could stop it instead of once it starts the clocks ticking. I agree if they could tweak it it could be great, but the way it is now a driver stands to loose alot of time that could be used.
