I second that!
Love my loose leaf logs! No tracking on my truck and no dispatcher!
I vote none of the above!
If given these three options, what would you pick

It would be nice if a sleeper berth of 30 minutes plus would push the 14 back. I'm courious how many of you actually wrote to the board and voiced your ideas or complaints on how to revise the rules. Remember that that old arsed biotoch Joan Claybrook is still behind all the BS crapola we have to abide by as if we're pilots with 350 passnegers! Don't let the news that she stepped down in 08 mean a thing! She still has her fingers in it!
When ever there are any changes to any FMCSA rules there is a period of time that we the people can write our complaints and ideas to the board. Enough letters and phone calls do mean something even though some of you don't think it does and uses that as an excuse not to reply during the process.
At least since these 11/14 came into effect it made life a lot easier even is some of us old timers complained that it would mean we worked harder.
It didn't it actually made it easier especially the time we got at home! Just think that you go home and got those two big fat zeros for home time! YEAH! ZERO'S! Then those two fat arsed zeros came back 7 days later and haunted your log book! Remember zero in means zero out! Now we go home and it benefits us! 34 hours and we start over! The 11/14 never made me have to work harder! It made all the crapola coloring I used to do legal! Or at least get it to look a lot better!
Not to mention I could actrually get some quality sleep time when off duty waiting for those beautiful 10 hours to start! YES!!! 45 minutes to eat, 15-30 to luxuriate in the shower and an hour to do laundry and 15 to catch up paper work and I got 8.75 hours to sleep if I wanted 8 hours!
But still some of the old hands complained. Go figure! At least I wasn't eating, showering and then doing paper work and getting 5.5 hours of sleep! Some changes were great! Except not being able to stop the clock with a nap that would make a driver a little more refreshed which Crash and Public Citizen, MADD, TADD and the rest of those alphabet idiot groups just could not see! What those idiots saw on paper was the gospel not fact that some college students came up with and they saw a fact and pushed it down our throats! When it comes to idiot do gooders and the damage they can do, what or who are we the ones who know have to complain about!Voyager1968 and postmandav Thank this. -
Some Interesting posts(pretty much thought the usual suspects would say.LOL to this poll),I thought it out to with every scenario to give you what you want and yet what you didnt want,or for the most part "Settle"
After reading a few articles as to why the "New Proposed HOS" have not been published,it reminded me how in life we try to get the best bargin for our money
CRASH PATT,etc... try to force unreasonable changed to the current HOS,in a attempt to get ATA,Teamsters,OOIDA,etc.. to "settle' for something they want,,EOBR's..In my humble opinion the writing is on the wall for this to happen,,,so I see it this way
Current HOS doesnt change,,,IF they make all carriers comply with EOBR's by settling on throwing out changes to the current HOS(sort of like dealing on a car,you know here is the price, you say how much your willing to pay and soon you reach a middle ground),i see this happening in the back rooms of DC and not in the open
No matter where you stand on the issue, you as a driver will be impacted,,,
I ask you to remember this in the upcoming few months,,
IF: The new HOS are adopted it ment the people that "supposedly" speaks on our collective behalf(ATA,Teamsters,OOIDA,ETC...) didnt settle on EOBR's and thus it will be a long drawn out affair as to when your truck has some sort of EOBR in it(FMCSA will determine By Mandate when it is required to be on your truck by your company score and of compliance Issues)
If the New HOS Proposal is "dropped" in lieu of carriers now being required to go to some sort of EOBR,it ment that PATT,CRASH,and the like "settled on this issue
Either way i see the old saying to apply,,,
They Might have won the Battle, and yet lost the WAR -
If they drop the 11 and go to 10 then I am going back to turning wrenches for a living. Since it would take a large chunk out of my already small paycheck.
Especially if they mandate elogs!
The 11-14-70 is allowing me to make a living and not much more really.
The only thing I would change is allowing drivers to take a hour or so break and beable to stop the 14.
They can take Elogs and shove them were the sun don't shine. I have been making due with paper for years and it has never been a problem.
They want to audit me, fine go ahead.volvodriver01 Thanks this.
