You wont be able to get to a gym, dont be fooled to think otherwise. I carry powerblock dumbbells a jumprope and youd he suprised at the workout you can get in a parking lot. I stack pallets and use that as my bench to work out my chest and back

There's a lot of things you can do as far as exercising. Going to an actual gym though is going to be remote. There are still a handful of truck stops that have some facilities but nowadays most are gone. You can do the YMCA thing but good luck getting a big truck into the parking lot!

I used to take a fold-up work out bench with me. Kept it strapped on the catwalk. Then I bought those Selectech Bowflex adjustable dumbells and they were sweet! I had a pretty good workout laid out with that set up. They aren't cheap though. They run about $400 - $450. Maybe try "Play - It - Again Sports" store. They may have some cheaper there.

Like I said there are many things you can do to workout, you just have to be creative and have the want to do it.

Can a 5'-6' weight bar with some plates fit under the bunk?

I have heard of truck drivers that use Chuck Norris' Total Gym Workout exercise kit. Perhaps you can look into this.

Yeah I think you were imagining yourself driving your big rig to LA Fitness. That aint going to happen. Even if you found one with parking, new company drivers most likely won't be on a dedicated run, so you won't be passing that one you know about. Like the others said, you have to get creative with your work out on the roads. Another thing to consider is with E Logs, you can't lie, meaning that your Rig would have to actually stay stationary for 10 hours and I don't know of any shopping center you can stay that long if you even fit in there in the middle of the night. If you want a workout be a MOVER. Good money but slave labor work. thats the route I went

Th plates wouldn't be a problem. The bar on the other hand... You would have to attach it to the frame or the back of the truck somewhere. Rather than take on 45 more pounds you would probably be better off finding some type of collapsible bar or compromise with an ez-bar or something similar. I only carry dumbbells, pushup handles, and I'm grabbing my jump rope when I go to the house next. Being creative and living on groceries rather than constant fast food is your best bet for sraying in shape on the road. I work out on the extra towel at truckstops when the weather is bad, sometimes inside my truck if it's snowing and i have shoulders or something that works in the truck. Good luck!

Best bet might be to get a Golds membership, because they're everywhere. Hopefully you could just park at a truck stop and call a cab. The thing would be to find out if you'd actually be parking close enough to make it feasible. Maybe someone who's tried it will chime in.

I'm in the same situation as you are. I have lifted for many years and hate the thought of not being able to have a good heavy workout on the road. I have done kettlebell workouts and implemented them in my training schedule. The workouts are super legit and allow you to train your cardio system at high intensity while also providing resistance training. You will not be building much mass with them, but you should be able to remain strong and extremly fit with them. Most MMA fighters and explosive athletes use training programs heavily dosed with kettlebells.
