If I get a place to practice backing should I get a CDL with no school?

    I got a local hauling job straight outta highschool at 17, got my own instate license at 18, put together a truck an took my full test at 21 no school except hard knocks haven't ran over anyone yet. Oh and no this wasn't 1960 it was 2008.

    I would recommend avoiding the huge companies who have a call centre of recruiters and are processing hundreds or thousands of applications.

    You should go to a smaller company, that way you can bring a copy of your criminal background search, your state driver's abstract and/or MVR. Make a copy of your license and put it with your resume and they have basically all the information required to get the hiring started.

    You can shake their hand, make an impression when you meet them and maybe do an interview that say, it set up a time to come back. You are leaving proof that you have everything required to start when they meet you for the first time.

    It's a fact that it's harder to reject someone face to face. Rather than deal with a recruiter who talks to dozens of drivers a day and doesn't know or care about you.

    Be humble. Let them know you're willing to go with a driver to get some training. Lots of insurance companies will make an exception or don't have a problem with newly licensed drivers since they are hired every day.
