Most states will give you 2-4 weeks t9 get the bew paperwork into dmvBean Jr. Thanks this.

Contact your state DMV and get that Physical ASAP!
-
In Commiefornia, it gets downgraded to a Class C. There’s no grace period.
TX2Day Thanks this. -
Kentucky will suspend license if that happens
-
It really depends on the state that issued the license. I live in South Dakota and here what happens is your license is downgraded to Intrastate only and is automatically upgraded when you do your physical. Wherever you are you cannot legally drive at least Interstate until you get this taken care of.

Years ago in PA I went for the physical on the day my card expired, then took my paperwork directly to the state licensing center. Had them put it in the system and was told it was all good. 5 days later my shiny new downgraded license showed up in the mail, I went the next business day and had them straighten it out but now I go at least 2 days before my current card expires.

You can get it in any state your in. I'm from tx and was in Oregon and got mine there. Turned out it was a year too early tho.Bud A. Thanks this.

That was an answer to a will I lose my CDL question. I always direct to the proper state DMV. Of course, where you get the physical is not at all important. Just getting it ASAP and into the CDLIS is critical!
