Does not matter how you log it, takes the same amount of time to do a task either way,,or at least should. If you want to have more home time or special days you need to talk to your load planner so they can schedule it.

I admit I always ran paper logs. I do not know the actual ins and outs of these e log systems. However one of the nice things about paper is if you had run totally out of hours you could still get to a more comfortable place and not have to deal with a truck doing it's best to call it's mommy.

No company is required to give you 34 hours at home. A lot will. Some will give you more than 34 at home, just depends on the company? Where ever you run out of hours is where you'll do your 34.

I ended up where I wanted to end my day most of the time I was on paper. Change this, tweak that, even go back into previous days and shave off 15-30 minutes here and there. I’d never run an elog until last July, was always on paper and refused to even consider most jobs unless they were on paper.

Unfortunately in most of my cases I had already did that. I had hit that clock and there was no more breathing room. I remember once running down US 441 in NC and ran out of my 70 very near that exit off I 40 onto the blue Ridge Parkway. Found an old store and backed in on the side and walked in and spoke to the owner. I was completely out of clock and there was no more room in my logs. I was empty though and headed home. That guy got his wife to take me to an old flea bag hotel and that is where I stayed until I got some recap time. This was before the rules allowed resets.
